FROM THE PRESIDENT

The Veterans Rally was a great experience for those of us who attended. There’s nothing like a police escort taking you through the city streets, and being part of a motorcade consisting mainly of 100’s of Harleys. The sound just echos through the city streets and certainly raises a few eyebrows from tourists and locals.
The speeches from the steps of Parliament House were harrowing – I hope that the veteran community is well served by the Royal Commission that is going to take place.
After the speeches, we moved over to the Imperial Hotel, directly opposite Parliament House, scored a prime position table in Spring St, and met a few of the speakers, some of whom joined us for a chat.
More recently, the VICs enjoyed another “Snake Valley Antidote” which includes the Lake Goldsmith Steam Rally. We were blessed by good weather and it wasn’t icy at all which is important because the pub was not using its fireplace, just the air conditioning. It’s getting hard to find a pub with a roaring log fire. I guess that’s progress.
Recently in NSW, the Carcoar overnight ride was enjoyed by some of our members and wives. There is a ride report in this RECOAN, thank you Craig. These historical towns are perfect for Enfield touring.
This year’s AGM is in Leongatha, and all members are encouraged to come along and enjoy themselves. The AGM is a friendly, festive time, and most enjoyable. This year’s will be well looked after by the Leongatha Bowls Club for the meet and greet, and the Leongatha RSL sub-branch for the Annual General Meeting followed by the dinner on the Saturday. The town of Leongatha is not really a tourist town, and accommodation is slightly limited, so book your accommodation ASAP as there may be competition for rooms from road-workers.
But before the AGM, the next annual, national event, is the winter rally, which will be held in Narooma on August 6th, 7th, and 8th. Any enquiries contact Garry Eyles, Craig Katen, or John Frost.
With any luck, Narooma in August will be nice and sunny.
The Great British Heritage Motorcycle Rally is now open for registration. The GBHMR will only be taking 100 registration for the inaugural event on 18th -20th of March 2022. Get your registrations in early so you don’t miss out on this latest National Event organized by your Club.
Regards Anthony Wright, President.
