Royal Enfield Club of Australia

2022 AGM Ulverstone Tasmania

By Craig Katen

After disembarking the Ferry at Devonport Garry, Leon, Peter, David, Tim and I met Don Mick and Charles for a coffee at the One Flower Café just near the ferry terminal. We then rode to meet the rest of the attendees for a breakfast put on by our hosts Trevor and Sue Marshall at their place in West Ulverstone about half an hours ride from Devonport.

Following our lovely breakfast we decided to go for a ride despite the poor weather and we went back towards Ulverstone and refuelled and then through town and headed south into the hills towards Castra. However due to the rain we cut the ride short and made our way back to Ulverstone through Sprent.

Friday’s meet and greet was held at the local Scout Hall just metres from the Beachway Motel where most participants were staying. Our hosts put on a great spread of snacks, dips, cheese, bread and antipasto with an abundance of beverages to wash it down with.

More rain was forecast for Saturday and there were also roads blocked which also meant the planned AGM ride route would need to be altered. It was decided to delay the ride in hope that the weather would be better and we set off at approximately 11am and by the first turn a miscommunication had the group split, Shorty, the ride leader went right out of the motel and there was a gap in the riders and subsequent riders who didn’t realise followed Howard left. The first group waited at the next corner and no one arrived.

Before long we were stopped on the proposed route by a bridge that was out. Whilst we waited for the lost souls to catch up the ride organisers tried to work out a different route to our lunch destination however it was too hard in the end and they decided just to head back to Trevor and Sue’s place for a BBQ lunch and do the bike judging there.

We then returned to Ulverstone and the Beachway Motel where we held the Annual General Meting and the ADM Dinner and Presentation.
