FROM THE PRESIDENT

It’s hard to be motivated in a Victorian winter sometimes, but today was a perfect sunny 18C; a ride would have been great except for the fact that we are in lockdown again here in VIC.

The Club is very lucky to have three major future events to focus on: 1) the Winter Rally; 2) the AGM; and 3) the Great British Heritage Motorcycle Rally.
1) The Winter Rally is being organized by John Frost, see p18.
2) The AGM is being organized by Charles Todd, see p19-21.
3) The Great British Heritage Motorcycle Rally is being organised by Charles Todd, Garry Eyles and others, see p22-23.

Hopefully, we will enjoy perfect weather for all three events, particularly the AGM, given that the 2020 AGM held at Sutton copped a lot of rain from the huge low further north which brought floods to Sydney and the north coast, and the 2019 AGM at North Haven which copped the bushfires.

I implore all the new members to attend these events, particularly the AGM. It’s not full of boring speeches, although there are some speeches. It is a great social gathering as well as the rally ride on the Saturday as well as the journey there and back. Just mark the time out in your diary now and start making a plan.

The 20th and final Honda Snowy Ride is on Saturday, 6th November. See the ad on p51. Also, the 3rd Mallee Show ‘n’ Shine is on Sunday, 19th September (p52).

Dame Marg has informed me that we are running low on Member of the Month articles again, after enjoying a good run of them for a while. So, what we keep pleading for is an M.O.M. article preferably in MS Word, with plenty of bike pics and people pics. As long as we have a back-log of these, then we can have a Member of the Month article every month in the RECOAN.

I got my first shot of AZ a couple of weeks ago, I am not dead yet; I encourage everyone to get their vaccine shots so that we can open the country up and go riding again.

Ride safe everyone.
