FROM THE PRESIDENT
Peter Jackson:
I love to get away for a long ride. Being on the bike with no one to call me or ring
me. I can just ride down the road to the next town. Last year I attended the
Leongatha AGM and rode down to it through NSW and Victoria taking the longer
way down. For me it was nice just sitting on my Himalayan and watching the
miles click by. It wasn’t a fast ride as you can imagine. My friend rode with me on
his BMW 1200 GS. He rode at his speed and I rode at mine. We took the longer
way down and stopped off at places to see some sites.
The thing is it was a great weekend and I think everyone enjoyed it. The AGM
brings together a lot of riders who have bikes in common and there is a lot of
comraderies. When you arrive Friday night there is a get together and food and
drink. Saturday is a ride and judging of the bikes. I have won worst Enfield twice
now. My Himalayan has had a hard life.
After that back for the AGM and dinner. Some people stick around and ride
Sunday. I had to get back for some work but there was a Sunday ride as well.
This year the AGM is in Ulverstone Tasmania. Tasmania is beautiful. I rode down
and around it a few years ago. I would like to ride down this year and meeting
other riders along the way who want to join us for the AGM and make a ride of it.
Down to the Ferry in Victoria and then over to Tasmania. A few days riding
around Tasmania and then meet up for the AGM with others and then back
home. The details can be worked out.
I can tell you that I have enjoyed every AGM I have attended. It is always fun and
laughs and not just about biking and riders. My friend who rode with me said
after it “I think I will have to buy an Enfield’.
If you do one long ride this year then come and join us at the AGM. I guarantee
you won’t regret it.
Pete
